16 Apr Helping Hospitality and Events Bounce Back After Lockdown
This Monday, England excitedly took to the next step on the government’s roadmap out of lockdown. This means that, after 4 long months, our friends in hospitality have finally been able to open their doors again!
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic Kiwi Recruitment has remained open to support essential businesses and keyworkers. Now that lockdown has started to lift, we recognise that there will be businesses and candidates searching for work in the hospitality and events industries that may need our support. Therefore, we’d like to extend that helping hand to businesses and candidates in these industries and show how we can help.
The hospitality industry has been one of the hardest hit sectors by the pandemic throughout the past year, either having to completely close at some points or running at reduced capacity due to social distancing measures. Even the current reopening comes with new restrictions limiting businesses to only serving customers outside. Which will come as a struggle for some businesses. The rule of six is also still in place outside, meaning currently larger events are still unable to go ahead too.
However, with the vaccine programme still going at full speed, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. If all goes to plan, these restrictions will continue to lift over the coming months. On 17th May hospitality will be able to serve customers inside with some social restrictions in place, while outdoor social restrictions will lift up to 30 people. By June 21st it is expected that all restrictions on social contact will be lifted, meaning larger events can go ahead from this point.
How we’re supporting businesses
As part of our support to businesses during lockdown, we have been offering a reduced rate of 8% fees on permanent placements. We know times have been tough, especially for the hospitality and events sector, therefore we have extended the offer so that you can benefit from it too.
The 8% fee applies to all permanent placements, with 1-month free replacement and 60-day terms. However, we understand given the current situation, you might be looking for someone more temporary and are offering competitive rates on temporary placements too!
Our team here at Kiwi Recruitment has strong experience placing a variety of different roles across the hospitality and events industries. No matter what your requirement is, your recruitment needs would be safe with us.
How we’re supporting candidates
We know it’s been hard for those working in the hospitality and events industry too. With hospitality being closed the last 4 months and events having been completely suspended since the first lockdown last year. Employees have also been faced with furlough or even redundancy in worst cases.
However, all is not lost. Now restrictions are being lifted and will continue to lift over the coming months, employers in hospitality and events are recruiting for more vacancies. Recruitment in hospitality rose by 39% between February to March this year according to job search engine Adzuna. That is likely to increase further as CGA’s Business Leaders Survey reveals they predict their workforces will be back to 79% of their previous size by July 2021. Events are also gearing up to recruit candidates, with a variety of large events anticipate going ahead after June 21st.
Here at Kiwi Recruitment we already have several clients searching for candidates across hospitality and events, all requiring people in a variety of roles to ensure everything runs smoothly post-lockdown. Whatever you are looking for, we’re sure to have a role within hospitality and events that will suit you!
