02 Sep A Recruiter’s Tips for Finding a New Job
If you’re currently trying to find work but unsure about the process, or feeling worried about how to make a good impression on your first day, you’re not alone. We spoke to Kiwi Recruitment’s very own Rebecca Burrell and asked for her tips on starting a new job.
How do I set out to find myself a new job?
“There are lots of different ways to search for job, from applying directly, going through job search boards to my personal favourite, approaching Recruitment agencies.”
Do you have any tips for a great interview?
“The most important thing is to know about the company; be able to talk about what they do, what awards they have won in the past and know what the job will entail. Also, dress for the job you want, not the job you have!”
What should I wear for my first day?
“This completely depends on the environment you will be in. For office work, always go smart. Even if they are dress down, it’s better for you to turn down your outfit than to go under-dressed! However if you are going for warehouse work, you don’t want to be in a suit and tie, so make sure you are dressed appropriately for the job.”
Do I need to bring anything with me for my first day?
“A notebook! There is no harm in taking notes, it shows you are keen to learn and also stops you from asking the same question over and over again!”
How can i build a great working relationship with my boss/colleagues?
“Just be yourself. If you pretend to be someone your not, you will get caught out. They hired you for you, so just be honest.”
