What’s On? – December

It’s the season to be driving home for Christmas, decking the halls with boughs of holly, and even jingle bell rockin’ around the Christmas tree. So what’s there to do in Chichester during this festive period?

Green Father Christmas

You read that right! Not the traditional red Father Christmas that we know and love, but a very special green Father Christmas will be making an appearance in his grotto at Weald and Downland Living Museum.

The days this event will take place are:

Saturday 7 December
Sunday 8 December
Saturday 14 December
Sunday 15 December
Friday 20 December
Saturday 21 December
Sunday 22 December
Monday 23 December

From 10.30am – 4pm on each of these days, you’ll be able to meet the man himself and even receive a traditional Christmas gift! There will be delicious hot drink and mince pies to enjoy whilst waiting for your turn in the grotto.

Unfortunately, green Father Christmas has a busy schedule, so you’ll need to book a ticket in advance. Tickets are £10 per child, which also includes the gift and admission to the museum. Adult tickets also include museum admission and can be purchased for £5. Only two adult tickets are available per appointment.

Chichester Festival Theatre

There are various shows going on at the theatre this December. This year’s CFYT production is the Wizard of Oz. The show will be running from 14-29 December. Tickets start at £10.

For something a bit more Christmasy, the 19th and 20th December will see the Minerva Theatre playing host to Joe Stilgoe, as he does ‘Christmas at the Movies’. Tickets for this event start at £20.

Laughing George Comedy Club

Head to the George and Dragon Inn on Friday the 6th December between 20:00pm to 22:30 for a fun night out. Bognor based independent comedy club ‘Laughing George’ will be providing you with a night of laughter. Tickets are £10 each, and the minimum age for entry is 18 years old.

Christmas at Amberley Museum

Amberley Museum and Heritage centre are hosting a very merry Christmas affair. Described on their website as:

Amberley Museum’s 36-acre site is full of surprises, especially during the festive season. Ride the Christmas Express Train to visit Father Christmas in our 19th Century Ticket Office. Visit our Market Stalls, enjoy Children’s Crafts and take a frosty stroll joining in on our Family Christmas Trail.

The event takes place on December 7th, 14th, 21st and 22nd from 10am each day.
